I had first fallen in love with Spain at the young age of 14. It was our annual summer vacation to Europe and there was no other country or city that I remember more passionately (as passionate as a 14 year can be) than Barcelona, Spain. For years I have been going on about my memories of crusty rice bits on the bottom of the Paella pan, the sparkling lights of the plaza well into the night and well... just being in love with Spain for no particular reason (that is the best kind of love, itsn't it?). So you can imagine my excitement and joy at the thought of spending two and a half weeks in Spain (still much too short). Therefore, despite my inability to capture my overwhelming love and joy for this country and city, I've attempted to log a few of the images that I did manage to capture, I will do my best to show you what I felt during those fleeting moments of joy.
There were kids playing soccer in the tiny courtyard of the Gothic Quarter, overly sweet confectionary shops, crazy narrow streets only two people could pass each other at a time, the most amazing Airbnb in the Borne district in an home dating back to the medieval period restored by an architect, and the memories go on and on. Sadly and fortunately I was too busy enjoying the moments that I rarely took photos with my "serious" camera and snapped away when I could remember with my iPhone, so the next few shots are all taken on the iPhone with snapseed edits.
One of the best two nights in any city. Follow me through our road trip through Spain in the next few posts. Hope you can enjoy a piece of my love and joy through these images.
